The concept of defining Social Justice itself can be interpreted in various ways. Although, In my perspective Social Justice is a matter in which is not only established through law and order, rather through conscience as well. I believe that to justify tyrannical actions done by a person (or group of people) in a simple manner without conviction held up to their actions equally as immoral and goes against achieving justice, at all. Justice is the act of creating equality and establishing a justification or compromise over a situation that’s fair. This meaning than, that in order to define “Social Justice” would signify to strive toward the idea that we as human beings work towards the interest of the entire public rather than for ones self interest, and towards securing human rights which should be entitled to all humanity as well as democracy both socially, politically, economically and environmentally.
In order for Social Justice to occur there must first be an understanding as to what manner is proper. And by this, meaning morality, and not only law. As a student attending a school which strives for what its name itself is “Social Justice”, although they have a distinct meaning of what IS social justice, i think in many ways it’s similar to how I would put it, I think . Establishing “Social Justice” itself isn’t as simple as many would want. In order to have Social Justice there must first be an understanding that in order to establish equality and compromise the world must also understand to be less narrow minded and should understand to use restorative justice among one another more and not just hold rules and strict order in high hopes of striving to hold a level isolation and repressed accustomed lifestyles that’s enforced and not dealt with democratically. Although, Social Justice is something that would make life on earth more convenient, life as we may all know , is not easy to live in. And has proven, that NOTHING is definite. Sadly, in this life, even after a hundred or so years, life is STILL ‘till this day surrounded with a lot of: racism, sexism, adultism, classism, ageism, ableism, Anti-semitism, heterosexism, and many other horrible and aggravating, unfortunate vias's that disrupt the process in achieving this among society. This is as a result that, unfortunately there will always be those who oppose of a more greater change for the better...if that better does not mean good to themselves.. Or who may also just discriminate and feel appall to allow certain rightful privileges to others. And by privileges that aren’t given to others i mean, certain people like homosexuals or lower class people or immigrants who are only some of the FEW who are treated unfairly in today's society as well as through a long life of history. Throughout history, homosexuals have always existed.. But, From the beginning of time, have never completely been accepted by everyone in society , rather continuously suppressed and shown from being free to live a life similar to many others, like they’d want to. This in which, I would like to remind you that by history it also includes the harsh untold stories of those who were targeted, drawn out and brutally repressed throughout in society over and over again that what they were and felt was “wrong”. especially during times of world wars l or ll as well as even from before that and on ward . This can be seen In the documentary “Coming Out Under Fire” (1994) for example, where it explores homosexuality and how it was approached during the navy and army times of during World War ll. And as expressed in the documentary, society not only discriminated against homosexuals, they beat them, discharged them for being homosexual, and oppressed many men and women who over time grew to become scared and regretful and ashamed to not only live there life knowing of the many people that the army hurt for being homosexual, regretting they didn’t get to live there life fully, and for being forced to give up on ever having a romance life ever even after the war from being too ashamed to come out or holding on to the ones they loved..
Lower- class people and immigrants role in society has always been neglected from having privileges as well. Unlike Higher class’s, governmental researchers and cps studies have shown that many times people that come from lower class homes are limited in opportunities and many times not even looked at by colleges for their social status.
I believe everyone goes through struggle already in their everyday lifetime, whether it being physical or psychological . Although, I also believe that struggle is not a matter of who has power and who does not . In fact, I believe power s a state of mind that only oneself can determine. So In my perspective, this, relates to what my vision of struggle in some ways as well. My vision of struggle is that although i know having a hopeful dream that maybe someday the world will be “A Happy-er, more greater” place to live in is not going to happen any time sooner with so many problems in society … i do envision that if society were to even place aside their differences and bury the hatchet and struggle towards saving the world from the destruction of ourselves.......then maybe, JUST maybe society would a bit less.... disgraceful and a disgusting to live in.
F.D.R once stated that “ The greatest fear in life is fear itself..” My personal contribution to my visionary struggle is that although i am still young, I , as a student which strives for Social Justice am also a pawn to which will be playing a role in slowly achieving check-mate. My role is that although I may not strike in society as a huge deal, I am not afraid to look problems straight in the eye. My role in achieving my vision is to educate . Educate on not only to just inform but to create action and advocate others towards realizing what is occurring all around us and can and SHOULD be done to stop society from self destruction politically, environmentally, socially and economically. My fire in life is to inspire and learn all that i can so that although life may or not live on in the future, that at least i attempted and worked my butt off to let society know that there IS still someone who believes in achieving or at least working towards dreams and wanting a better tomorrow. I may not be the richest person, or even hold any power in persuading / even being part of governmental decisions... but I AM a human being with rights EVERY person is entitled to in the U.S and AM the kind of person who believes in the right to life, liberty, prosperity and happiness, for everyone and everything!
